Matcha in Our Daily Lives

After taking three weeks break, I’m finally back to work and starting to make some new plans for my life—including changes to my diet and my career. Many things have changed recently, and they’ve pushed me to adapt as quickly as possible.

First, right after I backed home, I got sick with the flu. I rested for a few days and then began working out again. Of course, working out is just the support, diet is the real key to staying fit. So, I began adjusting my meals from breakfast all the way to dinner.

It’s now November, many online vendors in China are having huge Double Eleven promotions. Obviously, I shopped a lot, from food to clothes. For my diet, I stocked up on Greek yogurt and protein shakes. The yogurt is for breakfast, and the protein shake is for after my workouts. As I mentioned in the earlier posts, I usually mix matcha powder into the Greek yogurt. It’s a simple, healthy habit you can follow, and anyone can stick to it.

During my vacation, I went to Hong Kong and visited Donki in Causeway Bay, which is the biggest Japanese supermarket there. I browsed from the fourth floor all the way down to the first floor. What surprised me the most was a huge shelf dedicated to matcha products on the snack floor. Even more shocking was how widely matcha is used now, in body wash, shampoo, and other personal care items. Seeing all these products really caught my attention and made me even more curious about matcha’s benefits. So, I bought some matcha face masks (limited luggage space kept me from buying more matcha products!). I’ll update my experience after I try them.

Back to my daily breakfast routine: I’ve started adding matcha to my morning yogurt every day, and I asked ChatGPT about the benefits of drinking matcha daily. Here are a few key reasons it provided me, which I want to share:

  1. The caffeine and L-theanine in matcha provide a sustained energy boost while being gentle on the body, avoiding strain on other organs.
  2. EGCG in matcha helps reduce inflammation and supports overall health. Matcha can boost metabolism, so when combined with exercise, it can also aid in fat loss.
  3. Matcha can boost metabolism, and when combined with exercise, it may help with fat loss.
  4. Matcha is good for heart health and improves blood vessel function.
  5. It relaxes both the body and mind, helping regulate mood.

Keeping these benefits in mind makes it easier to stay consistent with consuming matcha every day. Personally, I’ve really experienced its calming and focusing effects on mental, which motivates me to keep going on this habit.
